MESSAGE FROM MARS

Episode #95 · Written by Clifford D. Simak · Narrated by Scott Miller

For over a decade, Mars has sent the same warning across space: no explanation, no negotiation, only a repeated refusal. Rockets continue to launch anyway, and each attempt ends in silence. The cost is measured in names etched into bronze and in the quiet certainty that space is not finished claiming lives.

When Scott Nixon finally reaches Mars, the danger is not what anyone expected. There are no armies, no open threats, and no visible rulers. What he finds instead forces him to reconsider every assumption Earth has made about intelligence, intent, and invasion. The message from Mars was never a mystery—it was a dismissal.

As the truth emerges, the stakes shift from survival to urgency. Earth remains unaware, and the window to act is shrinking. What Scott chooses to do may be the only chance to stop a conquest already underway.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Clifford D. Simak published his first professional science fiction in the early 1930s and became a frequent contributor to Astounding Science Fiction, where many of his most enduring stories appeared. His work often blended rural sensibilities with cosmic implications, favoring slow realizations over explosive confrontations.

Simak later won the Hugo Award for Way Station and produced dozens of short stories exploring non-human intelligence and long-term consequence. Message From Mars showcases his early fascination with alien logic—forces that do not hate humanity, but simply proceed without regard for it.
