GUARANTEED—FOREVER!

Episode #425 · Written by Frank M. Robinson · Narrated by Scott Miller

Fred Manning has seen every kind of scam Clark Street can produce. Cheap miracle gadgets, bold promises in small ads, and smooth talkers who fold their tents the moment the law arrives. When he walks into Harry Forsythe’s cramped office, he expects another easy case and another warning to shut down before the complaints begin.

What he finds instead unsettles him. The products are beautifully made. The claims sound impossible, yet the evidence refuses to cooperate with his skepticism. There are no factories, no shipments, and no suppliers anyone can trace. The deeper Manning looks, the less this resembles a simple fraud investigation.

At the same time, he is carrying news he has not shared with his partner. A private diagnosis. A future that may be shorter than he planned. As Forsythe’s merchandise spreads quietly through the city, Manning faces a choice that is no longer just professional. If the goods are real, they could change everything. If they are not, then trusting them could cost him the little time he has left.

“Guaranteed—Forever!” balances sharp dialogue with mounting tension, moving from street-level investigation to a revelation that reframes every promise in those tiny newspaper ads. It is a story about skepticism under pressure and about what a man will do when certainty slips away.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Frank M. Robinson began publishing science fiction in the early 1950s, placing stories in Galaxy Science Fiction and Astounding Science Fiction, where his precise, controlled style stood out immediately. He is also known for the novel The Power, later adapted into a 1968 film, and for his collaboration with Thomas N. Scortia on works such as The Glass Inferno, which became the basis for the film The Towering Inferno. Beyond fiction, Robinson worked as a speechwriter for political campaigns, bringing the same economy of language to real-world rhetoric. “Guaranteed—Forever!” showcases his talent for blending speculative ideas with grounded human stakes, all delivered with a clean, unflinching edge.

★★★★★ “Very microphonic professional voice. I wish other producers would cast similar voices than this one. Many of them have very thin and not engaging voices. This is not the case here. Very professional and very pleasant and calming tone of voice. Top talent. Easy to listen to and easy to fall asleep. Highly recommended.”
