BEYOND ANNIHILATION

Episode #349 · Written by Henry Kuttner · Narrated by Scott Miller

Paul Dent has survived battles, betrayal, and imprisonment, but nothing prepares him for what happens when a scientist decides to turn human beings into test subjects. Instead of dying, Dent is pushed into a hidden layer of existence where every step threatens disaster and every choice carries consequences that follow him from world to world.

The story moves with relentless energy, combining survival tension with shifting alliances and escalating danger. Strange landscapes blur past, unfamiliar intelligence watches from the shadows, and escape is never guaranteed. What makes the journey gripping is not just the danger itself, but the way each new world forces Dent to confront the person he has become.

Beyond the action, the story carries a constant undercurrent of pressure: power is within reach, but trust grows thinner with each decision. The farther Dent travels, the more uncertain his return becomes, and the harder it is to decide what kind of man should come back — the outlaw known as the Falcon, or someone changed by everything he has seen.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Henry Kuttner was a major force in early American science fiction and fantasy magazines, publishing widely in venues such as Thrilling Wonder Stories, Astounding Science Fiction, and Weird Tales. He was known for fast-moving adventure fiction as well as inventive speculative concepts, and he often collaborated with fellow writer C. L. Moore, producing influential stories under multiple pen names. His work ranged from hard-driving planetary adventure to psychological science fiction, and many later writers cited him for his ability to combine momentum with surprising character depth.

“Beyond Annihilation” showcases Kuttner’s talent for high-stakes storytelling built around bold scientific ideas. Published during a period when magazine readers expected action and imagination in equal measure, the story captures the sense of discovery and danger that defined the era while still grounding its drama in personal choices that feel immediate today.
