DON’T LOOK NOW

Episode #434 · Written by Henry Kuttner · Narrated by Scott Miller

“Don’t Look Now” begins in a quiet bar, with a nervous man trying not to panic. He insists Earth is secretly ruled by Martians. They hide among us. They control our choices. And they erase our memories so we never realize what is happening. He claims he is the only one who can still see them. When a reporter finally listens, the conversation becomes darker, stranger, and more convincing with every detail.

The story builds tension in small, careful steps. Humor mixes with dread. The man’s explanations sound absurd, yet also disturbingly logical. He believes proof exists. He believes the Martians are watching. And he believes that knowing the truth may be more dangerous than ignorance. As the night wears on, the question becomes simple. Is he mad, or is he right?

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Henry Kuttner was one of the great voices of vintage science fiction. He wrote fast, but he also wrote with heart, intelligence, and subtlety. His stories often explore paranoia, identity, psychology, and the thin line between sanity and terror. He published widely under many names, sometimes collaborating with his wife, the brilliant C. L. Moore.

Kuttner’s work influenced authors across decades. His stories appeared in the biggest magazines of the classic era. Readers loved his imagination, wit, and ability to surprise. “Don’t Look Now” shows exactly why he remains essential. It is playful and chilling at the same time. It warns us that seeing too much can be more dangerous than seeing nothing at all.

What listeners are saying:

★★★★★ “Very enjoyable! Lots of vintage sci fi stories! Love the narrator’s voice. Also- he gives a little snippet about the history of the writer or what magazine it came from. It’s fun to hear what people have imagined the future and life on other planets would be like. Double thumbs up!👍👍”
— K Vomer

★★★★★ “Very microphonic professional voice. I wish other producers would cast similar voices than this one. Many of them have very thin and not engaging voices. This is not the case here. Very professional and very pleasant and calming tone of voice. Top talent. Easy to listen to and easy to fall asleep. Highly recommended.”
